JERRY RICHARDSON JOINS WAHLQUIST MANAGEMENT

Little Rock, AR - Wahlquist Management Corporation, a leading national furniture promotion company headquartered in Little Rock, AR is pleased to announce the addition of Jerry Richardson to the company. “We are honored to have Jerry as a part of our team,” says Clay Wahlquist, President and CEO of Wahlquist Management.  “To have someone with Jerry’s extensive knowledge of the furniture industry will prove to be a valuable asset to our organization,” he goes on to say.

 Jerry began his career in the furniture business right after high school. In 1967 he joined Heilig-Meyers Furniture in Rocky Mount, North Carolina as a salesperson. After completing the company’s manager training program in 1970 he was transferred to Suffolk,VA with the responsibility of managing two retail stores. He moved to Richmond, VA in 1980 as a buyer for Heilig-Meyers. In 1985 Jerry was promoted to Vice President of Merchandising and remained in that position until 2000. When Jerry started his journey with Heilig-Meyers the company had 18 stores. At the conclusion of his career with Heilig-Meyers, the company was the largest furniture chain in the country with 1229 stores and an annual sales volume of 2.7 billion. In 2000, Jerry retired from Heilig-Meyers after 33 years of service.

After retirement, Jerry formed Capital Marketing Group representing furniture to major chains such as Cosco, Sams, Walmart, B.J’s Value City Department Stores and others.

In 2003, he opened a retail furniture store in Richmond,VA.  He sold the business in 2005 to Ashley Home Stores. Afterwards, he established Capital Management Group which operated cash raising sales for independent furniture dealers.

Jerry joins Wahlquist Management Corporations as a regional sales consultant. Although Jerry will be developing accounts and marketing the company on a national level he will focus extensively in regional markets. He will report to Robin Prather, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Wahlquist suite guests watched as former President George Bush and First Lady Laura Bush participated in the opening ceremonies! The game was a fight to the finish and enjoyed by all. BIG NIGHT IN COWBOY STADIUM!

Excitement filled the air once again in the Cowboy Stadium on Saturday evening, August 29th as Wahlquist Management Corporation hosted another eventful evening in their "Ring of Honor" suite during the final pre-season game of the year between the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. Guest included Paige and Ben Streiff of Ashley Home Stores in Victoria, Kenedy, and Yokum Texas. Bob Baggett and son, Jeff Tinkle, Mitch Barclay, Duane Cousins and Bud Long of Meridian Upholstry and Hussain Rana, Sunder Rana, Ahsam Shaiqh and Sabrina Shaiqh of Wilhite Furniture in Weatherford, Texas.

 

*HISTORIC OCCASION*

It was a great day for Dallas Cowboy football fans on Friday evening, August 21st as the Dallas Cowboys played the Tennessee Titans in a pre-season game for the first time ever in the new billion dollar Cowboy Stadium! The evening was filled with excitement and festivities as Wahlquist Management entertained several guests in the Wahlquist Ring of Honor Suite. Those in attendance included Robin Prather, EVP of Wahlquist Management, Bill Hughes with Capital Bedding and his son William, Steven Thorn with Genisis and wife Jennifer, Kevin McDaniel with Ponderosa and wife Kim. The historic evening was concluded by a Cowboy win!
